My son, not yet a teenager, shared this thought with me, this morning, upon arriving by bicycle to school and as we were pushed aside by a raucous old jeep, engulfed in its cloud of heavy blue smoke:

Our acts are transparent to the next generation. Our daily lives, ruled by convenience or amusement, without a second thought for the near future, that of our own children. They know, we fools. They know.
